I’m in a serious relationship..
with my career that is. Radio is the love of my life and there’s no passion that runs deeper. It all started 25 years ago, but it didn’t start to make sense until my first semester of college. Seriously, do you know how hard it is for a 17 year old to have to decide on something to study for the next 4 years, that they would indulge in for the rest of their working life? I chose happiness over dollar signs and I must admit, my sanity is in tune and every time feels like the first time whenever I open the mic…I still get nervous sometimes…I might even blush a little.
I’ve been around though:
Sales, Production, Promotions, Programming, Lafayette, New Orleans, hosted campus events & parties, pledged the greatest Sorority ever! [YOU GUESS], reigned as UL Lafayette’s 2006 Homecoming Queen and Alpha Phi Alpha’s 2005 Miss Black & Gold… threw some more parties, did a few campus fashion shows, made some banging pieces in my production classes ..BLAH BLAH BLAH….conquering it all with a roll of banners in my trunk. I still can’t believe I started out as a Nursing student…which makes me living proof that you can be anything you want to be.
Though I’ve been in radio since 2005, I still had to take some time out from my hip-hop/rockstar lifestyle to get some diploma action, but I jumped right back in like I never left.
I got a typical start in radio, the grunt work makes you appreciate the game so much more
and I promise you that no one could banner a club like me! But co-hosting the night show on KSMB’s Maxwell’s House was what made me see myself behind a mic for years to come. ‘Intern Lynetria’ definitely added a twist to the Top 40 station, but once ‘FRESH’ was born, I set out to find my own way. Being on the radio in my hometown is something that i’ve ways dreamed of. Working with the people that I grew up listening to is nothing short of amazing. It’s unreal when I look at what I’ve accomplished at such a young age. Not really looking for popularity and fame, but just happy that I wake up everyday and do what I love. With a gift of gab and personality for days….I HAVE ARRIVED! With so much more to learn but so much to offer, I’m sure my plan to take over the world is right on time! I can come with all the cliches and sayings but when passing on advice to anyone aspiring to be anything, I simply say “DO YOU…and no one else…ORIGINALITY can’t be duplicated”
